Art, Music, and Technology

Before the past decade, art, music and technology were three different entities. Art was something seen on canvases, posters and museums. Music had its own world as displayed in the music videos. And technology was only advanced to some extent. However in the world of today, you will notice how the three entities have joined forces and come together as a single being. In the music videos of today, art and technology is incorporated. The music videos of today always showcase some smart phones or tablets which display the modern use of technology by the characters in the video.

On the other hand, art is also seen in terms of the overall concept of the music videos. For instance, the makeup and costumes of the singers are no longer simple and wearable. They are pieces of art. Like the music video of “Call me when you’re Sober” by Evanescence. In her video, she is seen dressed up as a vampire but without the fangs. She displays the costume and makeup which is somewhat representing the modern concept of dark art. Her costume and makeup is complementing the song being played in the video.

We also see certain videos which begin with the tablet or mobile phone in hands of the singer, playing his own song. Not only does such action indicate the use of technology in listening of music but also promotes the idea of incorporation of music and technology. Ke$ha begins her video of “Tick Tock” in the same manner, playing the song on her smart phone. She incorporates art in her music video by dancing in front of walls which are painted with abstract paints. She also wears glitter and paints as a part of her attire to further inculcate art in her music videos.

It would not be wrong to say that music, art and technology have found common grounds and work as a single entity. This one flesh and body is being loved by people all over the world as a form of contemporary and modern approach towards important things of life.
